Ueda Kana will be one of the biggest surprise guests at Spring MondoCon 2025! The voice actress is coming to us straight from Japan. Her deep and distinctive voice, often associated with the “spoiled princess” character type, is best known from her role as Tōsaka Rin in Fate/stay night and the Fate franchise. However, she has also played Yuki in Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, Saki in Saki Biyori, Yagami Hayate in Mahō Shōjo Lyrical Nanoha, Yumi in Maria-sama ga Miteru, and even Hoshin Anastasia in Re:Zero. Additionally, she is the voice of Yoimiya in the globally popular game Genshin Impact!

Mini Career Overview

The voice actress was born on June 9, 1980, in Ikoma City. She grew up in Ōsaka-fu Prefecture, which is why she is known for incorporating a distinct Kansai dialect into her voice acting roles.

Her career as a seiyū started 24 years ago, in 2001, at I’m Enterprise, an agency where other well-known talents like Hayami Saori, Kugimiya Rie, and Uchida Maaya also work. To date, she has played 221 roles in 205 productions (anime, video games, and films).

Not Just a Voice Actress, But a Singer Too!

In the early 2000s, she was a member of several anime seiyū idol groups (N’s, Haruka Nogizaka’s Secret, Mix JUICE), and she also released two singles and a solo album.

Her singles include the opening theme of Final Fantasy: Unlimited and the opening and ending songs for the anime Kirby of the Stars, based on the famous Nintendo franchise. She has also performed a character song in Princess Connect! Re:Dive, and the ending theme of Saki alongside other legendary seiyū, such as (the previously mentioned) Kugimiya Rie, Koshimizu Ami, Shiraishi Ryōko, and Itō Shizuka.

Where You Might Have Heard Her Voice

Nowadays, she is often cast as intelligent, refined, or charismatic female characters. Her voice fits proud, strong-willed, yet elegant and sensitive women perfectly.

She is frequently given tsundere-type roles—characters who seem cold on the outside but are actually caring and emotional. While she plays more supporting roles these days, in the early 2000s, she starred in numerous iconic anime.

She is best known for her main roles in BlazBlue (anime & video game), Shigofumi, Aki-Sora, and Bikini Warriors, but you can hardly find a famous anime franchise where she hasn’t appeared.
